Slack sales celebrations

Sales Gamification posts into Slack the moment something worth announcing happens — a deal closed, a rep's first close, a streak milestone, a podium change or a competition result. Different moment types can route to different channels, and each can be switched off independently so the channel stays worth reading.

What gets scored in Slack

Channels

Route moment types independently — results to the company channel, streaks to the team channel.

Win announcements

Closed-won posts with the rep, value band and their new board position.

Milestones

First deals, streak milestones and personal bests fire as they happen.

Competition messages

Kickoff, mid-point standings and final results post into the channel the contest was announced in.

Announcement types

The moments that fire, each independently switchable per channel.

Worth knowing about Slack

A muted channel is worse than no channel

Firing a notification on every logged activity trains the team to mute the channel — and a muted wins channel actively teaches people that wins are noise. The default moment set is short on purpose, and it is worth keeping it that way.

Competition ideas

Contests that only work with Slack data

Each of these depends on something Slack tracks natively, so they are worth running here specifically.

Channel-native contest

Channel-native contest

Any board metric

Kickoff, daily standings and results all land in one channel, so the contest lives where the team already is.

Remote floor board

Remote floor board

Daily standings post

For distributed teams, a pinned standings message replaces the sales-floor TV entirely.

First-deal recognition

First-deal recognition

A new rep's first closed-won

The highest-leverage recognition moment in any programme, and the one most often missed manually.

Setting it up

  1. 1

    Add to Slack

Authorise the app and choose the workspace.

  2. 2

    Pick channels

Route each moment type to the channel where it belongs.

  3. 3

    Tune the moments

Switch off anything that would become noise. The defaults are deliberately short.

  4. 4

    Go live

Announcements fire on the event, not on a digest.

Slack supplies the data; gamification tool for sales teams decides what it is worth. The same feed drives leaderboard software, sales competition software and sales floor displays, on what a whole team costs.

Frequently asked questions

What gets posted to Slack?+

Closed-won deals, a rep's first close, streak milestones, podium changes, personal bests and competition results. Each type can be routed to a different channel and switched off independently.

Can we control how noisy it is?+

Yes, and you should. Every moment type is independently switchable per channel. The defaults are deliberately limited to moments rare enough to be worth interrupting for, because a channel people mute is worse than no channel at all.

Does this replace a TV leaderboard for remote teams?+

Largely, yes. A distributed team has no ambient display, so celebrations and a pinned standings message do the job the office TV would. Teams with a physical floor usually run both.

When do announcements fire?+

On the event itself rather than on a scheduled digest. The behavioural value is in the latency — recognition a week later at a team meeting has very little effect compared with recognition in the minute it happened.
